Is it just us, or did it seem like one day it was summer, and the next day HSM had a full complement of pumpkin ales and every store had Halloween displays?
The point is, Halloween is in two weeks, and we wanted to let you know about a walking tour to showcase the haunted spots in the hood, led by the founder of the San Francisco Ghost Society, Tommy Netzband. Game on.
It takes about 2 hours, and the sites and information are part local lore, & part research from the SF Public Library, the SFPD, and and City Hall. According to their FAQ, ghosts "have made themselves apparent" to guests during the tour. Plus, don't you want to see Jim Jones's old house in the middle of the night? Come learn all about ghost hunting and everything to do with parapsychology! See over 150 Victorian homes and learn history and architecture with a real local ghost hunter. Plus, everyone gets a chance to win some fun and "spooky" prizes on every tour! Come join this unique tour and learn all about The Haight-Ashbury like never before!Usually it just runs on Saturday nights, but through Halloween you have the option of going any night between October 25th and October 31st (with the exception of Monday the 28th). It's $20 a head, and you can buy tickets from brownpapertickets.com in advance. They meet at Coffee to the People. Last Halloween night they had about 60 people on the tour, so you might want to consider going earlier in the week if you want to have a more intimate experience.
