The shop location which used to be the home of Mark Harrington Glassware (286 Sanchez Street) is undergoing a renovation. The family owned and nationally recognized fine crystal and glassware shop, a fixture in the Castro since it opened in 1932, relocated back in June to Brisbane and left an empty storefront with large glass windows in its wake. Walking past the other day I noticed there was wood up around the facade and a building permit notes that it might be getting ready for a new tenant. Renovations include replacing the brick footing on the facade with concrete, adding an ADA compliant bathroom and electronic door opener, and repairing a storage room in the rear of the building. The property does not appear to be active on LoopNet, the national commercial/retail property leasing database, but we'll let you know when we hear what, if anything, is coming into the space.
