Crime Seemed Low Over Holiday Weekend
After we saw three cruisers chasing a Ford Bronco down Ashbury Street and onto Haight on Saturday night, we thought for sure crime stats for the weekend would be higher than normal.

Just before midnight on Saturday we saw a Bronco being pursued by three cruisers tearing south on Ashbury. They turned onto Haight so fast we couldn't even get a photo. We looked into the incident, and others that took place over the long weekend. It turns out there were only a handful of calls between Christmas and today. From Masonic to Stanyan, the Panhandle to Waller, there were: a few disturbing the peace, one burglary, one indecent exposure, three drug crimes, and one assault. Normally, holiday weekends yield a higher volume of calls to Park Station. Maybe it was the Christmas spirit, or the fact that the regulars who do the calling might have been out of town, but it seems to have been pretty calm. Of course, New Year's Eve falls in the middle of this week, so we'll see what happens. Were you in the Haight this past weekend? Did it seem quiet to you? Tell us what you saw in the comments.
