
It looks like the iconic former old Bank of America building adjacent to Harvey Milk Plaza could have a new tenant on the way.
SoulCycle operates more than 10 locations throughout the United States, including one near the Marina, and is seeking approval through the community-based planning process to move into the Castro.
The space has seen high turnover and vacancy since the Diesel store vacated back in January of last year. For a while, rumors were flying that an Apple store could come into the space, but that never panned out. In mid-2013, rumors started flying again, this time about the possibility of a burlesque club called Randy Rooster. A few months later, that deal fell flat after investors withdrew their support. Late last year, West Coast Leather set up shop, but left early in February of this year. The space has been vacant since.
The fitness company's proposal is currently being reviewed by the Planning Department and a hearing date with the Planning Commission has not yet been set.
