Vigil Planned Tonight For Duboce Triangle Homicide Victim [Updated]Photo: ladelman/flickr
As we reported earlier today, a 21-year-old man was robbed and shot in Duboce Triangle early this morning and died an hour after arriving at San Francisco General Hospital. The shooting took place at Noe and Henry at approximately 12:30am this morning. The police have not yet released any information regarding the identity of the victim.
[Update, 9:45pm: police have said the victim is Michael Marquez, and that the search continues for the five suspects.]

Supervisor Scott Wiener is working with the Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association to organize a vigil at the intersection of Noe and Henry tonight. People who would like to pay their respects and mourn with other community members are encouraged to attend.

In a statement to Hoodline, Supervisor Wiener wrote:

"This murder is yet another reminder that no neighborhood is immune from violence and that we must keep working to improve our community's safety. We need to continue to grow police staffing—the department is currently badly understaffed—and insist that we have a consistent police presence in the neighborhood. Working hand in hand, the community and the police can reduce this unacceptable level of violence."

The vigil will take place at 6:30pm today, and everyone is invited to attend.
