Back in June, we noted that the restaurant space that houses La Taza at 4230 18th St. was on the market. Now, the building has been sold and new owners have come in to turn La Taza into Bar Vero, a new spot that will serve Latin fusion food with a similar offering to its former incarnation.
According to La Taza manager Gerardo Garcia, La Taza’s last day will be January 14th. It’s anticipated that the restaurant will close for a few days and then reopen as Bar Vero on Monday January 19th, after a light remodel.

Garcia, along will many of the former La Taza staff, will be staying on to work at the new restaurant, although a new fresh chef will be brought in for brunch and lunch.

While Bar Vero will initially only be open during the day, the goal is to eventually open for dinner once the menu is decided. In the meantime, Bar Vero's owners will be working with the current La Taza dinner chef on menu brainstorming, and Garcia expects the menu to be relatively similar to La Taza's current offering.

If you're a La Taza fan, the next couple weeks are your opportunity to stop by and say goodbye, although it seems that Bar Vero won't be too drastic a departure from what came before. We'll let you know more as Bar Vero debuts next month.
