Weaver's Coffee & Tea Opens In The Castro, Plans Patio Expansion
By Roy - Published on December 13, 2014.
The newest member of the Castro's coffee klatch, Weaver's Coffee & Tea, soft-opened this morning after more than a year of teasing the neighborhood.
Weaver's offers fresh-roasted coffees at some of the lowest prices we've seen in the Castro, with a small cup of coffee at $1.80. The coffee shop's manager, Harry, attributes its low prices to the fact that Weaver's doesn't go through any third party to buy its coffee and instead roasts its beans in San Francisco and brings them in fresh daily.
Weaver's also boasts a selection of pastries, cookies and mousses from Cafe Madeleine in downtown San Francisco.
The coffee shop features a giant digital display behind the coffee bar that will play pleasing nature scenes and drop speakers around the cafe that will play soothing music to match.
We spoke with Weaver's owner John Weaver, who worked as a master roaster with Peet's Coffee for 27 years before moving on to start his own roasting company.
Weaver told Hoodline that he plans on expanding the footprint of his location to include an outdoor patio where the planter (which some refer to as the "litter box") is located on the east side of the cafe (right on the corner of Noe and Market). The cafe has been cleaning the planter out daily, but hopes to get the outdoor patio ready by spring 2015.
The location is open and very well-lit, with views of Market and Noe streets and a veritable lookout across to the Lookout. The coffee shop is nestled right under Fitness SF at 2301 Market Street and even has a door that opens right into the gym for people who want to get their coffee fix before or after their workout.
Stop by the Weaver's Coffee & Tea this weekend to welcome it to the neighborhood. It's now open Monday to Thursday, 5am-midnight; Friday 5am-11pm; Saturday 5am - 10pm; Sunday 6am-9pm.
