Looking for ways to fill your time this week? Here are just a few of the creative and tasty things happening around the neighborhood:
- Mojo Bicycle Cafe has officially launched a new pop-up. Called La Sombra, it will serve freshly-squeezed juices and smoothies out of Mojo's kitchen on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9am-11am.
- NOW! Panhandle Community Festival will be holding a planning meeting at
7pm8pm this Wednesday night at St. Cyprian's. If you watched last year's spring and fall festivals from the sidelines, this is your chance to get involved. - This Friday marks the beginning of The Mill's twice-a-week pizza nights. That's right—the busy Monday night pizza trend is expanding. This Friday, you can expect lacinto kale, mozzarella, ricotta, caramelized onions and toasted black pepper to top your homemade pizza crust.
- After pizza at The Mill on Friday night, swing by Rare Device for its latest art opening. Artist Julia Lucey will be exhibiting a series of aquatint etchings, focusing on the theme of taming wildlife. The opening will last from 6pm-9pm.
- Josey Baker's pizza crust is renowned, but are you itching to make your own? Oliver Piazza (who you may recognize from Dear Mom or Thieves Tavern) is teaching a pizza-making class at Workshop this coming Saturday from 7pm-10pm. More info available on Workshop's site.
- Finally, if you've been hiding away in your room writing love songs, maybe it's time to sing them in front of an audience. Spike's Sunday night open mic night at Madrone runs from 4pm-9pm. From 9:30 onwards, stick around and listen to organist Wil Blades.
- And, if you're itching to take a walk around the neighborhood, check out Detour, the newly-launched location-aware audio walk company. In one local tour released today, journalist Liz Gannes takes you beyond the Painted Ladies to discover hidden stories of the Western Addition, "including a reverend who's spent his life fighting the Western Addition's destruction, the reporter who exposed Jim Jones, and a survivor who narrowly escaped the Jonestown massacre."
Whether you're eating, drinking, creating or walking, we hope you have a stellar rest of the week, Hoodline readers.
