Around 11:15pm last night, a 33-year-old man was hit by a vehicle while crossing Castro Street.

@HoodlineSF Pedestrian hit and critically injured on Castro b/w 17th and 18th. Can you follow up? Those of us around extremely concerned.

SFPD tells us that the man walked out into the street on the 400 block of Castro (not using the crosswalk), where the collision occurred. The driver stayed at the scene and was not arrested.

The victim was taken to SFGH with unspecified injuries, according to police. He is expected to survive.
