Whether you’re a North Beach native, a recent transplant or just passing through town, it's a nearly sure bet you'll find something to fill your weekend in the neighborhood. From bars and restaurants (many with live music) to comedy clubs and art exhibits, the area is bursting with entertainment of all types. Yes, there are strip clubs and nightclubs, too, but did you know this weekend there’s a sea shanty sing-along and an appearance from comedian Tommy Davidson?
So if you’re sticking around the next few days, here are a few reasons to grab an extra layer and head out of the house.

A full list of venues and events can be found at northbeachfirstfridays.com.

Sports
Baseball (Games should be on in every North Beach bar with a TV which basically eliminates Specs)
Oakland takes on the Red Sox on Friday (4:10 PM), Saturday (1:05 PM) & Sunday (11:35 AM). If you’re a Boston fan, try Tupelo’s which is unapologetically slanted towards Beantown.
The Giants play the Phillies on Friday (4:05 PM), Saturday (12:05 PM) & Sunday (11:35 AM).
Belmont Stakes: Saturday, post time is 3:50 PM
American Pharaoh has a chance to be the first Triple Crown winner since 1978. You’ll want to find a decent cocktail bar in order to enjoy the official drink of the race.
NBA Championship: Warriors vs. Cavaliers, Game 2: Sunday, 5:00 PM
Same rule as baseball above: it’ll be on anywhere that has a TV and a power supply. Be sure to take a picture of Coit Tower lit up in Warrior blue while you’re at it.
NHL Stanley Cup Championship: Blackhawks vs. Lightning, Game 2: Saturday, 4:15 PM
The Boardroom and neighboring Northstar Cafe are good spots for puckheads.
UEFA Champions League Final: Barcelona vs. Juventus: Saturday - 11:45 AM
If it’s a big football soccer game, the place to be is Maggie McGarry’s. Show up early to grab a seat and don’t be shocked if there are dozens of new Juventus fans either.
