Inner Sunset Week: Crime Recap, Magnolias By Moonlight, El Niño Board Game-A-Thon, MorePhoto: Caitlin Harrington/Hoodline

You've made it through storm gusts and El Niño floods just in time for—more rain. (We needed this, right?) While you were wringing out your socks or staving off an ant infestation, here's what you might have missed around the neighborhood.

Last week ended with the disturbing news of a murder on the UCSF campus. A woman, later identified as 60-year old Mina Willis, was stabbed around 5pm last Thursday near the ambulatory care center, following an altercation with a male companion.

Police are seeking help with another neighborhood crime, this one involving an auto theft which was caught on surveillance video.

This next crime story may give Internet daters pause. Last Friday morning around 2am, SFPD responded to a call on Hillway Ave. from a man who had met a woman on a dating site. The man gave the woman money for a massage, which he never received. What he got instead were scratches on his arm after the suspect snatched his money, jumped in her light green 1990 Honda Civic, and rolled the window up on his arm when he tried to retrieve the cash. Always remember, safety first.

In brighter news — for a small slice of Sunset residents — local Internet Service Provider Sonic recently began rolling out their gigabit fiber service, boasting download speeds up to 1000 Mb/s, by far the fastest in the neighborhood. Service, however, is currently limited to the area bounded by 20th and 24th Aves between Lincoln and Taraval.

In other news, a month after reporting on plans to open a cannabis dispensary on 23rd and Irving, we revisited the Sunset's first dispensary, which met its dramatic end with a DEA raid in 2005.

Finally, a big change may be underway at the corner of 19th and Kirkham. An application was filed with the Planning Department to replace the Quality Tune-Up Shop with a preschool. The application was light on details, but we'll update you as we learn more.
