A male pedestrian has reportedly been killed after being struck by a Hop-On, Hop-Off tour bus at Divisadero and Post streets.

Update, 2:22pm: The SFMTA reports that the intersection has been cleared and the 24-Divisadero has resumed regular service.

Update: 3:30pm: Bay City News reports that the victim, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision occurred around 1pm this afternoon.

Update, 8pm: The Chronicle has more on what may have happened, including the detail that witnesses said the victim had been waving and shouting at the driver just before his death, and that the man may have been crossing against a red light.

Update, 2pm January 18thThe Medical Examiner’s office stated that the victim was 82-year-old Pieter Roell. Roell, a Noe Valley resident, attended San Francisco State University from 1964-1968. He taught in the San Francisco Unified School District for 32 years, before retiring in 2003.
