At around 2pm yesterday, a 58-year-old man pulled over to drop off a passenger on the 400 block of Duboce Avenue (between Church & Steiner). According to police, he had left the engine running and the key in the ignition, and had exited the vehicle when an unknown man hopped into the driver's seat.
The car's owner attempted to stop the suspect, whereupon the man punched him several times in the chest. The suspect began driving off, with the victim hanging onto the door. He then slammed on the brakes, throwing the victim to the ground, before driving off.
The victim suffered abrasions to his hands and knees, but refused medical treatment. The car (which also contained the victim's cell phone) has yet to be found, and the suspect is still at large.
