On June 7th, Veronica Barahona, 37, allegedly stole an ambulance from outside a Tenderloin residential hotel, taking it across the Bay Bridge and eventually crashing it on the Treasure Island exit, where it caught fire. Now, only two weeks after stealing the ambulance, Barahona has been arrested again—this time, for a burglary in Bayview.
According to CBS, Barahona was arrested on Sunday night around 10:20pm, on the 1700 block of McKinnon Avenue. She allegedly forced her way into a home through a sliding glass door, waking up the homeowner, who called the police. Barahona was found hiding in the backyard.
Barahona was arraigned in the ambulance theft case on June 9th, on charges of felony unlawful taking of a vehicle and unlawful taking of a special vehicle. However, she was granted a supervised release. She's now back in custody on suspicion of burglary, with initial bail set at $150,000.
