This weekend should be quieter than this past week, which has seen (illegal) fireworks in the air and streets, and the SFPD blowing up World War II-era explosives on the beach on Wednesday evening. Hopefully, your eardrums and pets will get a break for a while.

If you still have some hearing left, you might want to check out some of the musical options in the neighborhood this weekend. The Irish Cultural Center and the Honey Hive Gallery both have live shows on Friday night, and on Sunday, the San Francisco Symphony will be at Stern Grove with a musical tribute to the National Park Service.

Saturday also features an Outer Sunset exclusive at Crissy Field: a fundraiser for school ocean awareness programs. Join your neighbors for a plankton sampling event on the dock with the Greater Farallones Association and the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary at the Sanctuary's Pier Classroom. Participants will get to collect plankton and learn more about the vital role these small creatures play in our ecosystems. (See our story here.)

Closer to home, the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center is celebrating two decades in the Sunset with a party on Saturday. And on Sunday, you can relax before the new week begins with a drop-in yoga class at the new Playland at 43rd Avenue.

And even though the weekend will be over by then, don't miss the opportunity to have a cup of joe with some of the SFPD officers from Taraval Station that serve your neighborhood. They'll be at Java Beach on Monday for a friendly and informal chat and to answer any questions that you may have.

Here are all the events coming up this week in the Outer Sunset. For more fun around the city, check out our full events calendar at hoodline.com/events. If you have an event you'd like to add to our calendar, you can submit it here for free.
