Since our last roundup, the neighborhood has seen reports of a dead body, a steady series of robberies, and a minor fire. On the safety side of things, there's an upcoming public hearing on a new traffic light at 15th and Dolores. Read on for the latest; all reports are in chronological order and come via the SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

18th & Castro Robbery, Part One

On August 3rd at 2:17am, a 30-year-old man was standing on the corner of 18th and Castro when another 30-year-old man pushed him. The suspect then robbed him, taking his cell phone. No arrest has been made.

17th & Church Vehicle Theft

We received news from an anonymous tipster of a car theft:

"I'm a Bay Area native and an 8-year resident of the Castro-Dolores Park area. I am writing to inform you that my car was stolen around 5am on Friday, August 5th, from 17th Street near Church.

From a neighbor's security footage, I learned that the thief was a light-skinned male with short dark hair, wearing baggy, light-colored clothing and carrying two large and very full backpacks. He was looking into multiple cars on the street until he arrived at mine, a late-'90s Honda CRV (notoriously easy to steal). I report this not for the attention, but so that others in our neighborhood are made aware of a major theft."

18th & Castro Robbery, Part Two

At 2am on August 7th, a man, 26, was approached by another man, 40-45, near 18th and Castro. The older man pushed the victim against the wall, conducted a pat-down search, and took his phone before fleeing on 18th Street. No injuries were reported, and no arrest was made.

Hoffman Avenue Phone Robbery

A woman, 33, was using her phone outside of her house near Hoffman and 23rd on August 13th at 9:40pm, when a 20-year-old man approached her and snatched her phone. He then ran to a nearby grey Chrysler minivan and drove away. No arrest was made.

Church & Duboce Robbery With Gun

On August 14th at 5:50am, a 32-year-old man was robbed near Church and Duboce. A man, 25, ran up to the victim, demanding his property. When the victim refused, the suspect revealed a weapon and the victim then complied, giving him money. The suspect then fled to a gold SUV, where two additional men were waiting. The suspects fled, no arrests have been made, and the victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
