Tipster Ross W. confirmed the disruption:
Huge explosion around Page and Ashbury around 10:30 tonight. Cops and firefighters everywhere, but dumbfounded. No smoke or sign of explosion.
According to SFPD's Officer Giselle Talkoff, police did receive reports of "some type of explosion" around Page & Ashbury, but "officers were unable to locate any source."
She could not confirm the rumor that the noise could have been caused by an exploding M80 firecracker, as was the case with a recent scare at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
