Earlier this week, Sunset was declared San Francisco's hottest neighborhood, but that isn't limited to the real estate market. This weekend's events showcase the best of the neighborhood: community, nature, and music.
This Friday marks the beginning of the month-long Friday evening movie screenings at McCoppin Square, now in its fifth year. Hosted by the People of Parkside merchants association and the office of Supervisor Katy Tang, the screenings bring out 300-350 neighbors to McCoppin Square and involve both merchants and the community. Tonight's movie will be Pixar's family-friendly Inside Out.
On Saturday, head out to the Noriega Merchant Association's Ocean Beach Music and Art Festival. The festival showcases over 20 local indie bands across six stages along Noriega between 45th and 47th avenues. It also includes food trucks, a mobile petting zoo, and a pumpkin patch.
Locals can also visit the SF Zoo for its month-long ZOOtoberfest. The festival brings fun-filled activities for adults and kids alike every weekend in October, including San Francisco's largest hay maze at the Harvest Hallow. Adults will also appreciate the brews and German-inspired eats at the Zoo Brew Haus.
