Looking for ideas to out of the house and forget politics for an hour or two? Here are a few options to get you through your pre-election week in the Haight.

The de Young's Friday Nights series tonight is an evening with photographer and filmmaker Danny Lyon, whose films "Soc. Sci. 127" and "Leesburg" will also be screened. The evening is set to kick off Lyon's exhibition "Message To The Future," which opens tomorrow at the museum. Admission to Friday Nights is free; museum entry for the exhibition itself is set at the standard rate (free to members, $22 adults, etc.).

In an unusual treat from Milk Bar, the venue will host a night of R&B, soul and funk tomorrow night from 8pm onwards, with guests Mama's Soup, The Dawn, and DJ Honeycomb Brown. Tickets are $8.

And if you're looking into the week ahead, don't forget that next Tuesday, November 8th isn't just election day: it's also your chance to attend the SFPD's Park Station community meeting, where you can ask questions, vent griefs, and hear directly from Park Station Capt. John Sanford. The meeting will start at 6pm at 1899 Waller St.

Here's your full roster of events in the Upper Haight for this weekend and beyond. As always, explore more options and submit your own events at hoodline.com/events.
