An armed man was arrested on the Civic Center Muni station platform this afternoon, after a flurry of police activity that briefly put a halt to train service.
The SFMTA first reported the man's presence on the platform at 11:50am:
ATTN: Reports of possible person w/ a weapon at CC Station, OB platform. Please be cautious. SFPD en route. Will update.

They then noted that the suspect was a white male in his mid-30s, with red hair, wearing a green and white shirt and blue jeans.
By 12:10pm, SFPD officers had the suspect in custody, but outbound subway service was still being held as they searched for his weapon.
UPDATE: Suspect is in custody. Weapon not accounted for, @SFPD sweeping subway for it now. IB #subwaysvc proceeding slowly. OB still holding

The security incident was cleared by 12:25pm, with trains resuming normal service.
This isn't the first unusual incident of 2017 at Civic Center station. Last month, a man attacked another man with a machete inside the station. The victim was hospitalized for injuries to his head and neck; the suspect is still being sought.
