'Tequila Mockingbird' Opens For Business In DaDa Bar's Former DigsPhoto: Tequila Mockingbird/Instagram

Housed in the former home of DaDa Bar (which moved to Post Street in 2016), Tequila Mockingbird (pun intended) has arrived in SoMa. The new venture comes from chef and restaurateur Dennis Leary, the mastermind behind House of Shields and Natoma Cabana

Eater SF reports that Tequila Mockingbird operates as "straight-up bar," with a special focus on tequila and mezcal. While there's no food, the drink menu includes options like the Oaxacan Old Fashioned (reposado tequila, mezcal, agave), the Bathtub Gin (London dry gin, amaro, mezcal, falernum), and of course, the cocktail that gives the bar its name (blanco tequila, curacao, grapefruit, lime).

In addition to cocktails, beer fans can enjoy 14 draft beers, including the "totally nebular" Space Dust India pale ale (Elysian) and the "tastefully tart" Sour Monkey (Victory Brewing).

Instagram photos reveal the bar's dimly lit interior: upholstered bar stools, eclectic wall sconces, hanging pendant lights and an illuminated star set behind the bar. For a little privacy, head upstairs to a spacious booth on the mezzanine.

Tequila Mockingbird (86 2nd St.) is open Monday–Saturday from 2pm–2am.
