The area has attracted several lactose-intensive businesses of late; in addition to Clover Sonoma, scoop shops Smitten, Loving Cup, and Three Twins will all be joined in the near future by Salt and Straw’s second San Francisco location, expected to open soon at 580 Hayes St.
Clover Sonoma's tasting room will be staffed by a team of "Somooliers." Based on a Craigslist job posting, visitors can expect to be greeted by actors who'll "guide visitors through a short milk tasting experience based upon the idea of a wine tasting experience."
In addition to tasting notes, Clover's improv-trained Somooliers will share information about the milk's area of origin and suggest flavor pairings. (A since-removed Craigslist posting pegged pay for the gig at $30/hour.)
The 100-year-old company rebranded this year to merge its Clover Stornetta and Clover Organic brands into Clover Sonoma and began offering dairy products that meet Non-GMO Project Verified standards. It also produces cheese, cream cheese, cream, eggs and even kefir.
Tastings will be scheduled for Monday breakfasts, Wednesday lunches and a Friday happy hour; for hours, visit this Hoodline event listing.
