Here are some notable incidents that have taken place since our last biweekly recap covering SFPD's Central District, which encompasses Chinatown, Financial District, Embarcadero, Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills, North Beach, and Union Square. 

Unless otherwise noted, all reports are drawn from the department's daily summary.

Pedestrian injured in traffic collision 

On March 7th just before 7pm near the corner of North Point and Mason streets in North Beach, an 82-year-old man was struck by a vehicle. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Read our full story here.

Woman robbed by three men while walking

On the 1800 block of Grant Avenue on March 10th at 8:32pm, a 30-year-old woman was robbed while walking. 

According to police, the victim was on the sidewalk when a car pulled up and three men exited and approached. One of the suspects, who appeared to be in his twenties, grabbed her backpack and jacket and took items from her pockets. The three suspects fled in the vehicle westbound on Chestnut Street. 

The victim lost her mobile phone, jacket, backpack and wallet containing a driver's license, cards and cash. No injuries were reported in the incident. 

Two photographers robbed of equipment on crooked street

At Hyde and Lombard in Russian Hill on March 6th at 9:25pm, two men, 27 and 29, were robbed while setting up camera equipment. 

The two victims were atop the crooked part of Lombard Street when three unknown male suspects pulled up next to them in a car. Two of the suspects exited the vehicle and "pushed them aside," according to police. 

The suspects then stole the victims' camera gear and fled in the waiting car,  with the third suspect behind the wheel. 

No injuries or arrests were reported. 

Robber snatches woman's purse 

On March 5th at 10pm on the 900 Block of Post Street, a 21-year-old woman was robbed of her purse. 

The victim was inside an area business and was pushed by an unknown suspect. She then noticed that her bag containing cash and a cell phone was missing. 

The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment. 

Victim attacked and robbed while entering residence 

On the 100 block of Bay Street on March 4th at 4pm, a 72-year-old woman was attacked and robbed. 

The victim was entering her residence when she was approached by a 30-year-old woman who punched her. After the attack, the suspect grabbed the victim's purse containing cash and credit cards and absconded on foot in an unknown direction. 

No serious injuries were reported. 

Firestarter arrested after damaging building

Police arrested a 22-year-old man for starting a fire February 28th just before midnight on the 600 block of Post Street in Lower Nob Hill. 

The suspect lit various papers on fire and threw them resulting in damage to a building. No injuries were reported and the suspect was taking into custody at the scene. 

Woman robbed of her cell phone during attack

A 25-year-old woman was robbed near Battery and California Streets in the FiDi at 2pm February 27th, police reported. 

The victim was approached from behind by a female suspect ages 16-21 and instigated a physical fight. During the incident, the suspect dropped a stun gun to the ground, police said. The suspect then snatched the woman's cell phone and fled on foot. 

No injuries were reported. 

Man in his 60s robbed near his vehicle

On February 25th at 3:25pm near Beach and Larkin Streets at Ghirardelli Square by Fisherman's Wharf, a man in his sixties was robbed. 

The victim was near the trunk of his car when an unknown male suspect 18-25-years-old pushed him and took a bag containing his wallet and cash. 

The suspect then ran into a waiting vehicle and fled with another unknown suspect southbound on Polk Street. 

No injuries were reported. 

Robbery suspect spray paints security guard

On February 23rd at 10:51am on the 200 block of Powell Street in Union Square, a woman in her early-to-mid-forties robbed a store.

The suspect entered the business and took several jackets and a pair of shoes when a 54-year-old male security guard attempted to intervene. The suspect then sprayed the guard in the face with paint before fleeing the scene with stolen items.

The employee was injured, but was not transported for treatment. 

Two teens purloin cell phone while victim awaits ride

On February 23rd just after 1pm near Sutter and Montgomery Streets in the FiDi, a 33-year-old woman was robbed of her cell phone. 

While on a phone call waiting for a ride to arrive, two female teens approached her from behind and grabbed her mobile device. The two suspects then fled on foot eastbound on Sutter Street. 

No injuries were reported in the incident.
