Hungry? A new neighborhood Mediterranean spot has you covered. Called Shahrazad Cafe, the new arrival is located at 4739 Magazine St. in Uptown.

The spot comes courtesy of Jamal and Wafa Ismail, a couple who wanted to share family recipes with the New Orleans community, the Times-Picayune reported.

On the menu, look for classic Mediterranean offerings that include a gyro plate with spiced lamb and beef and grilled marinated shrimp with mushroom, squash and Brussels sprouts. There are also sides like baba ghanoush, hummus and falafel.

With a five-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp so far, the new arrival has been warmly received by patrons.

Kathleen M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on January 27th, said: "Gyro plate was excellent. The meat was very tender with good spices and grilled onion. I had the salad and hummus with it. Mediterranean salad had lots of tomato, cucumber, pickled veg and feta—both delicious and interesting."

And Meg A. added: “Best fattoush salad in the city! Came here the other day and really enjoyed our time. Our waiter was very nice and helpful at recommending dishes and drinks.”

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Shahrazad Cafe is open weekdays from 11am–10pm, and weekends from 11am–11pm.
