Police are seeking a man wanted in a stabbing early this morning on Market Street that left the victim seriously injured.

The incident occurred on the 1100 block of Market Street just before 3 a.m. when the suspect, 25, was engaged in a verbal disagreement with the victim, a 35-year-old man.

According to a witness, the suspect took a "fighting stance" before pulling out a knife and swinging it at the victim multiple times. The suspect fled the area, and the victim was hospitalized with life-threatening wounds to his torso.

Anyone who has information about this incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
