Looking to chow down on some Mexican fare? A new restaurant has you covered. Called El Fogon Tacos & Grill, the new addition is located at 4726 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie.
The restaurant features Mexican cuisine like shrimp wrapped in bacon with bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, charro beans and rice; chorizo and bacon quesadillas; and a selection of tacos, fajitas, seafood and burritos. Other noteworthy items include the poblano peppers stuffed with fajita steak; chilaquiles dipped in red and green sauce with two sunny side-up eggs; and fish soup with zucchini, potatoes, carrots and rice.
With a 4.5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp so far, El Fogon Tacos & Grill has already made a good impression.
"Best Tex-Mex food in the area. The steak fajitas were awesome," Yelper David W. said. "The fajitas were tender, flavorful and served with lots of grilled onions, peppers and house-made corn tortillas. But I'd like it more if they added some jalapeños to the mix. There was a limited drink menu, but it included a decent regular margarita."
Yelper Susan b. added, "It's close to authentic with friendly service, huge portions and amazing flavor. I will definitely go back."
