Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top Japanese spots around Miami Beach, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to venture next time you're on the hunt.
1. NaiYaRa
Topping the list is NaiYaRa. Located at 1854 Bay Road in Bayshore, the sushi bar, Thai and Japanese spot is the highest rated Japanese restaurant in Miami Beach, boasting 4.5 stars out of 523 reviews on Yelp.
Avid participators in Miami Spice, NaiYaRa has been featured in numerous publications, including Time Out's Guide to the Best Thai food in Miami.
"Chef Bee puts a trendy twist on the Thai street food of his childhood with spicy and sweet chicken wings, beef jerky with a woody nahm jim jao sauce, fried garlic bok choy and more," the review notes.
2. SuViche South Beach
Next up is Flamingo Lummus's SuViche South Beach, situated at 1119 16th St. With 4.5 stars out of 396 reviews on Yelp, the sushi bar, Peruvian and Japanese spot has proven to be a local favorite.
According to SuViche's website, the restaurant strives to create a new type of cuisine, one that blends the ingredients, traditions and originality of Peruvian and Japanese. This is the growing local chains fifth Florida location.
3. Hoshi & Sushi
Oceanfront's Hoshi & Sushi, located at 5401 Collins Ave. in the Carriage House Condominiums building, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the sushi bar, Japanese and Asian fusion spot 4.5 stars out of 363 reviews.
Chef Dongwook Seo believes eating fresh seafood is one of life's richest pleasures, according to Miami New Times. Hoshi & Sushi is his first restaurant and he's made it a point to serve sushi that's both simple and inventive.
4. Doraku Sushi
Doraku Sushi, a sushi bar in Flamingo Lummus, is another go-to, with four stars out of 920 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1104 Lincoln Road to see for yourself.
Doraku set out to reinvent the Japanese restaurant by capturing the flavors of Latin Cuisine while staying true to Japanese sushi traditions. The menu offers a mix of sushi rolls and more inventive fusion dishes. Doraku also claims to have one of the most extensive selections of sake in the United States.
5. Sushi Song
Last but not least, there's Sushi Song, over in Flamingo Lummus, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 201 reviews on Yelp. You can find the sushi bar, which also offers desserts, salads and more, at 1239 Washington Ave.
