Here are some notable incidents that have taken place in SFPD's Central District since our last biweekly recap. The district encompasses Chinatown; the Financial District; the Embarcadero; Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills; North Beach and Union Square. 

Unless otherwise noted, all reports are drawn from the department's daily crime recaps.

Man stabbed to death in broad daylight at Fisherman's Wharf

40-year-old Brook Pettyjohn was stabbed to death on the afternoon of March 21, at Jefferson and Taylor streets in Fisherman's Wharf.

Hot prowler steals bicycle from "crooked" street home

A woman's garage was robbed on March 20 between 6:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the famous "crooked" 1000 block of Lombard Street in Russian Hill. 

According to police, an unknown suspect entered the garage while the victim, 51, was at home, but went undetected. The suspect stole a bicycle. 

Suspect snags cell phone from victim, demands cash

On March 19, an 18-year-old man was robbed by a male suspect in his early 20s on the 500 block of Market Street in the FiDi.

Around 2:30 p.m., the suspect walked up to the victim and snatched his phone before demanding cash. The victim handed over his money, and the suspect fled the scene. 

Pedestrian injured after being hit by cyclist

A 57-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a cyclist while walking near the intersection of Clay and Montgomery streets in the FiDi. The incident occurred at 8:22 a.m. on March 19.

According to police, the cyclist, a 61-year-old man, struck the victim as she crossed Clay Street. She then fell to the ground. The cyclist was injured in the incident as well. 

Woman robbed in her home by trio of suspects

A 48-year-old woman was robbed in her home at 4:30 a.m on March 19, on the 800 block of Washington Street in Chinatown. 

The woman was at home when three unknown male suspects entered the home and "ransacked" it, according to police reports. The suspects stole cash, a wallet (containing identification), keys and jewelry before fleeing the scene. No arrests or injuries were reported. 

Woman arrested for hurling glass cup, injuring man

A 29-year-old man was assaulted on March 17 at 1:28 a.m., near the corner of Montgomery and Jackson streets in Jackson Square. 

The suspect, a 26-year-old woman, allegedly picked up a glass cup and threw it at the victim, who was transported to the hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. Police later located the suspect and took her into custody. 

Man robbed by 4 suspects in broad daylight at Fisherman's Wharf

On March 16 around 2:53 p.m., a 37-year-old man was robbed by a group of people in Fisherman's Wharf, near the intersection of Jefferson and Powell streets.

The suspects, three unknown men and a woman in their 40s, "surrounded" the  man and demanded his belongings, according to police. The victim handed over cash, and the suspects fled in an unknown direction. No injuries or arrests were reported in connection with the incident. 

Man injured during fight

A 27-year-old man was hospitalized after an an altercation on the 1300 block of Grant Avenue in North Beach on March 16, between midnight and 2 a.m. 

According to police, the victim got into an argument with three unknown male suspects. The trio then threw the victim to the ground, causing non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made. 

Man and woman attacked from behind, robbed in North Beach

A 36-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were robbed near Grant Avenue and Lombard Street in North Beach on March 9 at 7:37 p.m.

Two male suspects in their early 20s approached the two victims and pushed them from behind, causing them to fall. One of the suspects punched the man, then stole the woman's purse, containing credit cards. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. 

Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries. 

Man injured in North Beach hit-and-run

Also in North Beach, a man in his 40s or 50s was struck in a hit-and-run collision near Columbus Avenue and Vallejo Street March 9 at 1 a.m. 

The victim was walking when he was hit. The suspect, driving an unknown vehicle, fled northbound on Columbus Avenue. 

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident, but it's not clear if he was transferred to a hospital for treatment.
