The number of crime incidents in Kenner saw an overall increase last week, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 132 for the week of March 4, up from 125 the week before.

The offenses that increased the most were theft and shooting. Theft rose to 29 incidents last week, from 21 the week before. Shootings went from one to three.

There were three reported burglary incidents last week. That represents a steady state from the previous week.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of assault went from 15 to nine. Incidents of vandalism fell from five to one, and robbery went down from two to one.

There were 86 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of eight from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, 16 involved arrests, such as for drug possession, up from nine reported arrests the week before.

Regarding day and time factors, Thursdays, Saturdays and Fridays witnessed the most reported crimes last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Thursdays, Saturdays and Fridays, while incidents on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays went down. Comparing times of day, early afternoon, late morning and evening saw the most crime last week.
