The number of crime incidents in Metairie last week remained roughly even with the week before, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.

The specific offense that increased the most for the week of March was theft, which rose to 57 incidents last week, from 52 the week before.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of vandalism went from 16 to 11. Incidents of assault fell from 33 to 29, and burglary went down from nine to six.

There were 156 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 13 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, 14 involved arrests, such as for drug possession, up from 10 reported arrests the week before.

Regarding when most crimes are committed, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays witnessed the most crime incidents last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while incidents on Fridays, Mondays and Sundays went down. Comparing times of day, early afternoon, evening and late afternoon saw the most crime last week.
