It's time for a roundup of notable crimes from SFPD's Tenderloin Station reported in the month since our last roundup. All details come from official police reports, unless otherwise noted.
Man robbed in two-on-one assault
Around 5:20 a.m. on September 29, a 41-year-old and was approached by two suspects, one female said to be in her early thirties and a male of unknown age.
The male suspect struck the victim with an unknown object, while the female suspect stole his wallet, speakers, and cash. Both suspects fled on foot and remain at large.
Woman robbed while waiting for Muni
A 42-year-old woman was in line waiting for the bus, around 5:30 p.m. on September 28 near the intersection of Cyril Magnin and Market streets, when a man said to be 60 years old pushed her from behind, knocking her to the ground. The suspect took the woman’s phone and wallet, including her cash, credit cards, and identification, before fleeing the scene.
Man robbed after disrupting vehicle break-in
Around 8 p.m. on September 27, a 41-year-old man confronted two male suspects said to be in their late twenties breaking into his vehicle. The two suspects simulated firearms and stole the victim’s shoulder bag containing his laptop before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. No arrests have been made.
Man arrested after robbing bank
A 45-year-old man was arrested after attempting to rob a bank on the 1500 block of Market Street (near Van Ness) around 10:12 a.m. on September 27.
According to SFPD, the man entered the bank and handed the teller a written note requesting money. After the teller complied, the man fled on foot. Officers later located the suspect, arrested him, and recovered the stolen money.
Men held at gunpoint in 2-on-2 robbery
Around 12:47 a.m. on September 24, two men said to be in their early thirties held two men at gun point on the 500 block of Ellis Street (near Leavenworth). One of the victims, who was 33 years old, gave the suspects his watch. The other victim, a 28-year-old, did not report a loss. Both suspects fled and remain at large.
Man stabbed, robbed, in 6-on-1 attack
A 30-year-old man was stabbed after getting in an argument with six unknown suspects around 10:36 p.m. on September 22 in United Nations Plaza. After one of the suspects stabbed him, the other five unknown males hit him in the head and stole his wallet. The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and no arrests have been made.
Man robbed from behind
Around 10:30 p.m. on September 22, a 28-year-old man was grabbed from behind by two men said to be in their late thirties on the 100 block of Turk Street (near Taylor). The suspects stole the man’s cellphone, wallet, bag, phone charger, and money before fleeing on foot.
Man threatened by gun-wielding robber
A man said to be in his twenties approached a 38-year-old man on the 900 block of Market Street (near Powell) around 8:26 p.m. on September 21 and took the victim’s jewelry.
The suspect then pointed a handgun at the older man, fired a shot into the air, and fled in a sedan. No arrest has been made.
Man robbed of chain at gunpoint
Around 7:55 p.m. on September 20, a man said to be in his early twenties approached a 21-year-old man near the intersection of Turk and Mason streets. The suspect pointed a gun at the victim, stole the man’s necklace chain, and fled on foot.
Homicide still under investigation
A 50-year-old man was shot to death on the 200 block of McAllister Street (near Hyde) around 1:09 a.m. on September 20. The suspect, said to be a man around 20 years old, was reported to have fled on a bicycle. No arrest has been made, and the incident is still under investigation.
Woman punched, robbed of keys
Around 7:25 a.m. on September 19, a man said to be in his thirties approached a 20-year-old woman near the intersection of Ellis and Jones streets and punched her in the face. The man stole the woman’s keys and fled.
Man robbed at gunpoint in early morning attack
A man said to be in his early twenties approached a 34-year-old man on the 100 block of Mason Street (near Eddy) around 2:15 a.m. on September 19.
The suspect pulled out a gun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim threw his wallet, including credit cards, a debit card, and his ID, down onto the street and fled. The suspect has not been identified.
Man robbed of bike at knifepoint
Around 7:38 p.m. on September 18, an unknown male suspect approached a 34-year-old man on the 600 block of O’Farrell Street (near Leavenworth), pulled out a knife, and stole the victim’s bicycle. The suspect fled on the bike and remains at large.
Woman loses phone to hair-pulling thieves
Two women said to be in their late twenties pulled a 23-year-old woman’s hair near the intersection of O’Farrell and Leavenworth streets around 7:23 p.m. on September 17. The two suspects threw the victim to the ground, stole her phone, and fled on foot.
Woman arrested after argument escalates to stabbing
A 56-year-old woman was arrested after stabbing a 30-year-old woman with a knife on the 500 block of O’Farrell Street (near Jones) around 11:25 a.m. on September 19.
The women had been arguing before the older woman pulled out a knife and stabbed the younger one. Police arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect, and the victim was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Men robbed at gunpoint in 2-on-2 attack
Around 12:54 a.m. on September 17, an unknown suspect held two 25-year-old men at gunpoint near the intersection of Jones Street and Golden Gate Avenue. The suspect was joined by another unknown male and the two stole the victims’ backpacks, cellphones, shoes, wallets, and money, before fleeing on foot. No arrest has been made.
Teen steals woman’s phone
A male said to be in his late teens grabbed a 34-year-old woman’s cellphone from her hand on the unit block of 5th Street (near Market) around 5:30 p.m. on September 16, and fled on foot.
Man hospitalized after early morning 3-on-1 assault
A 25-year-old man was approached by three male suspects, one said to be in his forties and the other two said to be in their early twenties, around 3:30 a.m. on September 16 near the intersection of Larkin Street and Olive Alley.
The three suspects punched and kicked the victim, who was later transported to the hospital by a family member. No loss was reported, but no arrest has been made in the assault.
Man arrested after threatening victim with a knife
A 23-year-old man was arrested after robbing and threatening to stab another 23-year-old man around 8:35 a.m. on September 19 near the intersection of Larkin and Eddy streets. When the victim attempt to take his property back from the suspect, the suspect brandished a knife. Police arrived on scene and arrested the suspect, and the victim was not injured.
Pedestrian struck by private bus
Around noon on September 14, a private bus was turning onto Larkin Street from Grove when the driver struck a 59-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing the intersection.
The man was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, a 34-year-old woman, is not being charged.
Man loses phone after being hit on head, threatened at knifepoint
A man said to be 27 years old struck a 25-year-old man in the head several times around 11:14 p.m. on September 10 on the 300 block of Turk Street (near Leavenworth). A second suspect gave the the assaulter a knife while he stole the victim’s cellphone.
The two suspects fled on foot and remain at large. The victim, who was not stabbed, was treated at the scene for minor injuries to his head.
Woman loses body spray in 6-on-1 attack
Around 1:00 p.m. on September 8, six unknown female suspects approached a 23-year-old woman on the 800 block of Market Street (near Stockton), and stole 26 bottles of body spray from her. One of the suspects assaulted the victim, causing bruising to her face, before all six suspects fled on foot. The victim refused medical treatment and no arrests have been made.
Drunk man hit on head with stick
A 45-year-old man was intoxicated and sitting on the sidewalk on the 400 block of Jones Street (near Ellis) around 11:50 a.m. on September 8. A man said to be 40 years old hit him in the head with a stick before continuing down the street. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Man hit with metal pole
Around 11:35 p.m. on September 7, a 39-year-old man was hit with a metal pole by two male suspects near the intersection of Eddy and Taylor streets. The victim was treated at the hospital for a cut on the right side of his face.
Teen injured by shrapnel from building shooting
Just after 5:30 p.m. on September 6, an unidentified male suspect fired shots toward a building on the unit block of Taylor Street (near Market). The rounds from the gun hit the building’s glass, shards from which injured a 16-year-old male.
The male suspect was accompanied by two other unknown suspects who fled into a nearby light-colored sedan and left the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Woman punched, hit on head with bottle
A man said to be in his forties punched a 37-year-old woman on the 300 block of Leavenworth Street (near Eddy) around 10 p.m. on September 5. A woman said to be in her fifties then smashed a bottle over the victim’s head.
Neither suspect has been identified and the victim was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Wheelchair robber cuts victim before stealing cash
An unknown suspect in a wheelchair rolled up to a 52-year-old man around 11:10 a.m. on September 4 near the intersection of 7th and Market streets. The wheelchair-bound suspect pushed the victim, cut his arm with a knife, then reached into his pocket and stole his money. The suspect fled the scene, and the victim was treated for a minor cut to his left arm.
Man stabbed in attempted robbery
Sometime between midnight and 1 a.m. on September 3, a 48-year-old man exiting his vehicle at the intersection of 6th and Jessie street was confronted by two men said to be in their early forties.
One suspect punched the victim, while the second stabbed him with a knife. The victim was able to drive his vehicle, and was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made.
