Here's a roundup of notable crimes reported to the SFPD's Tenderloin Station in the weeks since our last roundup. All details come from official police reports, unless otherwise noted.

Man arrested after hit-and-run

Around 6:09 p.m. on May 2, a 23-year-old man in a vehicle struck a 27-year-old man crossing the intersection of Turk and Hyde streets on foot, and fled the scene in his car. 

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect was later located and arrested. 

Woman and man attacked after intervening in drug deal

A 54-year-old woman asked a group of unidentified men not to sell drugs on the 200 block of Hyde Street (near Turk). A fight ensued after her intervention, during which she was punched and a 29-year-old man was stabbed with a knife. 

Both victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled on foot northbound on Hyde and have not been identified. 

Man robbed at gunpoint in two-on-one attack

Around 8:30 a.m. on April 30, a man said to be around 33 years old approached a 28-year-old man from behind near the intersection of Golden Gate Avenue and Hyde Street. The suspect grabbed the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene on foot.

The victim chased the suspect and saw him hand the phone off to another suspect said to be in his early thirties who was on a scooter. The victim demanded his phone back from the second suspect, who flashed a firearm and fled the scene. No arrests have been made.

Argument escalates to machete attack

A 50-year-old man was attacked by a man said to be in his forties with a machete around 4:57 p.m. on April 27. The two men were in a physical altercation near the intersection of Willow and Polk streets, which escalated when the suspect pulled out his machete. 

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect has not been identified. 

Man robbed after skateboard attack

Just after 2 a.m. on April 27, three men approached a 42-year-old man near the intersection of Hyde and Fulton streets. One of the suspects hit the victim with a skateboard, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects stole the man’s wallet and money, and remain at large. 

Man stabbed after argument

A man said to be in his late twenties pulled out a knife while arguing with a 54-year-old man near the intersection of Turk and Leavenworth streets around 1:51 p.m. on April 23. The suspect stabbed the victim, causing non-life-threatening injuries, before fleeing north on Leavenworth. 

Man arrested after stabbing

Around 12:23 p.m. on April 23, a 65-year-old man and a 37-year-old man got into a physical altercation on the unit block of McAllister Street (near Market Street). The older man stabbed the younger one and was arrested. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Man arrested in BART station for bat attack 

A 49-year-old man assaulted a 58-year-old man with a baseball bat around 4:00 p.m. on April 22 near the intersection of Charles J. Brenham Place and McAllister Street. BART police officers found and detained the suspect at the Civic Center BART station, where he was arrested. 

Suspect charged with assault, arrested after 15-hour stand-off

As we previously reported, a man was hospitalized after barricading himself with a knife in Glide Memorial Church for more than 15 hours on April 21. Officers responded to reports of a man with a knife on the 500 block of Jones Street (near O’Farrell) around 6:36 a.m., and attempted to take the suspect into custody, but a struggle ensued that resulted in an officer-involved shooting. 

The suspect, who has since been identified as 31-year-old San Francisco resident Thomas E. O’Bannon, fled the scene and was taken into custody at 9:24 p.m. that evening. 

In an update on April 29, SFPD stated that O’Bannon was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and assault likely to result in bodily injury. These charges stem from an incident that occurred around 5:25 a.m. on April 21, when a 60-year-old man, who was walking his dog on the 600 block of Post Street (near Jones), was attacked by O’Bannon with a piece of wood. Police said the suspect hit the man in the face, causing facial fractures. 

Although the suspect is in custody, the incident is still under investigation. 

Elderly man robbed in 4-on-1 attack

Around 5:30 p.m. on April 20, four men said to be in their early twenties attacked and held an 85-year-old man near the intersection of Turk and Leavenworth streets.

The four suspects stole the man’s money but allegedly did not injure him before fleeing on foot. No arrests have been made. 

Man robbed by unknown suspect

An unidentified male suspect approached a 59-year-old man on the 100 block of Turk Street (near Taylor), and demanded the victim hand over money and drugs. The suspect grabbed the victim, causing non-life-threatening injuries, before stealing money out of his pocket and fleeing the scene on foot. 

Suspects arrested in Richmond robbery tied to Tenderloin assault

Three male suspects assaulted a 55-year-old man with their fists on the 800 block of O’Farrell Street (near Larkin) around 12:17 p.m. on April 19, and stole the victim’s phone. The three suspects fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a fourth female suspect. 

The four were later arrested in conjunction with a Richmond District robbery of a 14-year-old boy, and later tied to the Tenderloin attack. The three suspects were identified as 24-year-old Jose Marroquin, 21-year-old Carlos Pavon, 32-year-old Fernando Aguillera and 28-year-old Mayra Rosaibarra, all of San Francisco.

Although the four suspects were arrested and charged with robbery, assault, and conspiracy, both incidents remain under investigation. 

Man assaulted, robbed in 4-on-1 attack

Around 9 a.m. on April 16, four men said to be in their twenties approached a 36-year-old man from behind near the intersection of Ellis and Jones streets and attacked him.

The suspects stole the victim’s wallet, phone, money, and ID before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Man robbed after facing gunfire

Just after 1 a.m. on April 13, a 25-year-old man fired two rounds at a 20-year-old man near the intersection of 7th and Stevenson streets. The suspect’s shots didn’t hit anyone, but he stole the victim’s money and cellphone and ran before being arrested. 

Man injured in shovel attack

A man said to be 32 years old struck a 51-year-old man with a shovel several times around 6 p.m. on April 10 on the 400 block of Ellis Street (near Jones). The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect has not been identified. 

Man stabbed through car window

Around 6:45 p.m. on April 3, a 29-year-old man was stabbed twice in the chest with a knife  through the passenger side window of a car near the intersection of Fulton and Hyde streets.

The suspects, a man and woman both said to be in their late twenties, fled in a sedan and have not been identified. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
