A new spot to score seafood and more has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 3517 N. Spaulding Ave. in Avondale, the new addition is called Surfs Up.

Surfs Up specializes in seasoned grilled or fried seafood dishes. The menu features seafood plates and sandwiches, as well as chicken wings. Side options include fried green tomatoes, cheese grits and hand-cut fries. (Explore the entire menu here.)

Surfs Up has gotten solid feedback, with a 3.5-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp.

Andrea L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 24, wrote, "Wow!... The crab legs were still hot when they got to me and slid out of the shell perfectly! Shrimp was perfectly seasoned. The only regret is that I didn't order more. Will be ordering again."

Yelper A K. added, “Normally, if you make your customer wait an hour or more, get the order right and offer a free side dish or something and I'd be willing to give this place another try. But not only did we pay extra for things we didn't get and food was subpar, it was a regretful late lunch/dinner.”

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Surfs Up is open from 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m. on Tuesday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m.–midnight on Friday, 1 p.m.–midnight on Saturday and noon–7 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
