In San Carlos, a terrifying attack unfolded near Highway 101 as a person was struck in the head with a pickaxe, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Police were quick to apprehended 37-year-old transient Matthew Garcia in connection with the crime. Reports indicate that the victim and the suspect knew each other.
On the night of the pickaxe attack, police received a call and promptly sprung into action, finding the injured individual on the Holly Street overpass above Highway 101, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Paramedics and fire personnel were at the scene of the incident to treat their non-life-threatening injuries incurred by the attack. Swift work of local law enforcement ended with Matthew Garcia taken into custody, when he was discovered a short distance away attempting to flee the scene on foot, as reported on KRON4.
It is worth noting that this is not the only harrowing incident involving a bizzare weapon to recently occur in the San Mateo County.
