A devastating hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian was caught on surveillance footage in Oakland, California. The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. yesterday near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Vicksburg Avenue.

According to KTVU, paramedics rushed to the scene where they found the victim, an adult, in critical condition. Despite their best efforts, the victim later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The Oakland Police Department confirmed that based on their preliminary investigation, the driver fled the scene after crashing into the pedestrian. However, a possible suspect has reportedly been detained, as mentioned by journalist Henry Lee in a tweet from the previous day.

The chilling surveillance video, obtained by KTVU from the nearby Thomas Adams Residential Care Facility, depicts a black sedan speeding through the intersection and brutally plowing into the pedestrian.
