On Wedndesday, at approximately 7:39 PM, an incident in La Mesa left a 51-year-old bicyclist seriously injured when a pickup truck collided with him at the intersection of Murray Hill Road and Waite Drive. According to an announcement by the La Mesa Police Department on their Facebook page, witnesses at the scene reported that the driver of the truck involved, described as a Hispanic male in a white T-shirt, black shorts, and white shoes, initially stopped after the collision and got out of the vehicle but then fled the scene shortly before the police arrived.

Authorities have released surveillance images of both the white crew cab Ford F150 Sport, and the suspect himself. Images of the vehicle reveal that it may have sustained minor damage to the front grille and hood. The truck was last spotted heading eastbound on Waite Drive and then traveling under the SR-94 freeway overpass onto Buena Vista Avenue in Lemon Grove.

The victim, who remains unidentified, was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries sustained in the crash, but is currently in stable condition, according to the La Mesa Police Department. Despite the incriminating surveillance images and witness statements, it seems that several key witnesses from the scene have not yet come forward or have yet to be interviewed by the investigators. These include the driver of a Tesla who was present at the scene and stopped to assist the injured bicyclist.
