Alliance Bakery, a beloved establishment in Wicker Park, is expanding to a second, larger location in West Town. The bakery, widely recognized for its custom cakes and pastries, has been serving the Chicago area for a century. The newly announced presence at 1837 W. Grand Avenue, strives to become a strong presence and impact maker in its new locale while maintaining robust service for existing, loyal customers from both premises, as Eater Chicago reports.
Since its initial establishment to infinitely please the Wicker Park community in 1923, Alliance Bakery with its French pastries, cakes, and mouthwatering offerings holds a century-long reputation. Owned and operated by Chef Peter Rios since 2007, the bakery has not only made a name for itself, but has catered to high profiles such as Chance the Rapper. The expanded West Town location is crafted to meet increasing consumer demand and bolster the bakery's production capabilities, ultimately emerging as a neighborhood cornerstone, notes Block Club Chicago.
In stark contrast to its standing-room-only original spot on Division Street, the new venue boasts of a seating capacity catering to around 20 people. The West Town location, aside from offering the classic French pastries and custom cakes, will also feature a fully equipped coffee and espresso bar. Rios retains a commitment to upholding the authenticity and charm of the original location, and ascertains that the consistency will be evident to customers as they enter the new establishment, as mentioned in an Eater Chicago feature.
Rios candidly revealed to, the catalyst for the expansion to a larger venue was the increased demands and the team outgrowing their primary workspace, which remained largely unchanged since 1923. Exploding popularity of its pastries and custom cakes in recent years significantly fueled the decision to provide a more conducive working environment for the bakers, as noted by Block Club Chicago.
Even though Rios endured delays after purchasing the building on Grand Avenue a few years ago, the eagerly anticipated second outlet unfurled its doors yesterday, October 27. November will witness a grand opening event, hailing a new epoch for Alliance Bakery.
In light of a burgeoning number of commercial kitchens and enterprises in the West Town vicinity, inclusive of Publican Quality Bread, Uncle Mike's Place, and Output Sports Lounge, Alliance Bakery's move to this promising neighborhood is adequately strategic. Rios is optimistic to be a pillar in this section of Grand Avenue, comparing the locality to Fulton Market two decades ago, and foresees a positive metamorphosis in this city segment.
As Alliance Bakery nears its centennial celebration, ardent long-term patrons and newfound customers eagerly anticipate the delicious heritage of the brand, both at the historic original Wicker Park location and the new, commodious West Town location. Poised for further expansion, Alliance Bakery, according to Rios, remains dedicated to serving both the community and its ever-loved pastries.
