
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the first-degree murder of a 17-year-old girl, according to the Chicago Police Department. The CPD announced the charge following an arrest on December 11 in the 2400 block of N. Lockwood Ave.
The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his juvenile status, is implicated in the August 19 shooting that took the life of the female teen in the 5700 block of W. Bloomingdale Ave. Based on an investigation and subsequent identification by the CPD, he was scheduled for a detention hearing on December 12. The shooting occurred in the city's 25th District at approximately 4:09 p.m., where the victim was fatally wounded under unclear circumstances. Details regarding the motive or events leading up to the incident have not been made public.
The police department has not released additional information pending the ongoing investigation. The seriousness of the offense has brought the youth before a judge at 2600 S. California for his preliminary detention hearing, with further court dates to follow as the legal proceedings take their course.
