An elderly Athens man lost his life this week after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a local roadway. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department reported that 78-year-old Jewell Jarrells was hit by a car Wednesday while he was attempting to cross Danielsville Road near J.J. Harris Elementary School. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Danielsville and Fernwood Court, police conveyed in statements obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta and Patch.
The driver of the vehicle, a 2013 Chrysler 200, was a 55-year-old woman also from Athens, who has not yet been to face any charges while the investigation remains underway.
