A 19-year-old man was slapped with a slew of felony charges following an armed robbery and aggravated battery incident in Chicago, authorities said Monday.
Kamahri Blount, of the 4300 block of North Kedvale Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, is accused of demanding property at gunpoint and discharging a firearm near a 29-year-old man, according to Chicago Police Department. The alleged confrontation, which left two injured, unfolded less than 10 minutes before his arrest on Sunday morning.
Blount faces two felony counts of aggravated battery in a public place, one felony count of armed robbery with a firearm, and one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, as stated in the police report. The episodes leading to these charges occurred on the 4100 block of West Berteau Avenue, in the city's 17th District.
In the wake of the incident, a 29-year-old male and a 25-year-old female were reported to have sustained minor injuries due to Blount's aggressive actions, the report detailed. Blount was apprehended at 7:24 a.m. near the crime scene and is currently facing justice at a detention hearing at 2600 South California Avenue. No further details have been released at this stage.
