In a development that has rocked a Texas community, Brian Shillingburg, the principal of Clements High School in Sugar Land, has been arrested on charges of soliciting a prostitute. According to reports from KPRC 2, 43-year-old Shillingburg was taken into custody by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office late Monday.
Appointed to the helm of Clements High School in 2022, Shillingburg has a long tenure in the field of education, with experiences ranging from teaching kindergarten to serving as an assistant principal and principal at various schools. The district has acknowledged the arrest and emphasized its commitment "to ensuring there is no disruption to instruction and a smooth administrative transition," as obtained by KPRC 2.
Fort Bend Independent School District is now faced with the fallout of this incident involving a respected educational figure. Shillingburg comes with an impressive career background, including a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration. His education was followed by over two decades dedicated to nurturing young minds in various capacities.
In the state of Texas, the charge of solicitation of prostitution is considered a state jail felony, potentially carrying a sentence of up to two years in prison if convicted, a change that came into effect in 2021. Details about the allegations have yet to be released, but the district has, without commenting on Shillingburg's employment status, issued a statement emphasizing the importance of maintaining order within the school's administration during this period. "Clements principal Brian Shillingburg was arrested on December 11th by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office and charged with Solicitation of Prostitution/Other Payor," the district said, according to a report by KHOU.
Shillingburg's professional background also includes roles as a youth counselor and youth pastor. According to his bio on the Clements High School website, before taking on his role as principal of Clements High School, he was a principal at James Bowie Middle School, testimony to a varied and extensive career in education before his current legal troubles.
