The community of Carpentersville is grappling with the unsettling disappearance of 17-year-old Brissa Romero, who has been missing for a grueling week after failing to return from a holiday party she was supposed to attend at a Vernon Hills bowling alley. Authorities and family members are desperately seeking any information that could lead to her whereabouts, and her family is now offering a substantial $14,000 reward, according to ABC7 Chicago.
In the latest developments, Carpentersville police highlighted a unique identifier on Brissa's missing vehicle, a black coyote sticker located near her car's license plate, believing it could be key in locating her gray 2008 Nissan Rogue, last seen near the intersection of Route 45 and Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills. Her family, heartbreakingly coping with her absence, has intensified their pleas for public assistance after authorities confirmed her car was in the vicinity of the bowling alley where the holiday party took place, WGN-TV reported.
The Carpentersville police and investigators from Vernon Hills pooled their resources, scouring the area around Executive Way and Lakeview Parkway on Monday, requesting that the public keep clear to aid in the ongoing search efforts, while the Romero family imparted the heartbreaking last known footage of Brissa, showing her briefly at her job in Schaumburg, where she retrieved her iPad before she set out for the now ill-fated celebration; "Nobody wants to go through this, nobody," Brissa's sister, Rubi Romero, expressed in an emotional outcry for her missing sibling, as relayed by ABC7 Chicago.
Amid the agony and the uncertainty, Blanca Aguilera, Brissa's mother, anchored herself in faith holding tightly to a crucifix during a vigil, her voice echoing the despair of a parent's worst nightmare while she pleaded "I want my daughter back to come back as soon as possible, My heart is broken, I just want my daughter back," her statement a gut-wrenching echo in the cold December air, and with the increased reward, the Romero family is urging anyone with information regarding Brissa's disappearance to step forward and contact Sgt. Webb with the Carpentersville Police at 847-551-3481, or QuadCom Dispatch at 847-428-8784, Brissa described as 5 feet tall, around 115 pounds, and last seen driving a gray 2008 Nissan Rogue with Illinois plate CZ 64618, as reported by ABC7 Chicago.
