A grim discovery in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood has rattled the community as a woman's body was found in a trash bin, with officials ruling the death a homicide. A worker for the Streets and Sanitation Department stumbled upon the scene Tuesday morning around 8:30 a.m. while checking a garbage bin in an alley on the 8500 block of South Vincennes Avenue. The unidentified woman, reported to be 43 years old, was found partially clothed with her hands and feet bound. The situation, as detailed in a Sun-Times article, was pronounced dead on the scene.
A Cook County medical examiner's office autopsy conducted on Tuesday determined that she had died from multiple injuries consistent with an assault. To further investigate, detectives from the area have initiated an inquiry, but as of now, no arrests have been made. This tragic incident echoes a similarly chilling occurrence, where a woman was found dead in an alley on Chicago's South Side. In this case, officers responded to a ShotSpotter call around 1:04 a.m. and found an unidentified woman unresponsive in an alley in the 7900 block of South Vincennes Avenue. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was promptly taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, CBS 2 Chicago reports.
The parallel between these two incidents is staggering, with both victims being discovered within blocks of each other on South Vincennes Avenue.
As the area detectives continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding these deaths.
