A 42-year-old man was left fighting for his life after a brazen daylight shooting on Chicago's Near North Side. According to WGN-TV, the victim was driving Monday morning when he was ambushed by two males in a gray vehicle, leading to a flurry of gunfire that sent him to the hospital in critical condition.
The incident unraveled at around 11:35 a.m. in the 800 block of North Orleans Street. The man's vehicle was found later at a car wash, its presence there raising questions about whether this was the actual scene of the crime or a brief sanctuary found post-attack. Police told ABC7 Chicago that one assailant exited the gray vehicle and opened fire, the bullets finding their mark and the suspects subsequently escaping, leaving no trace but the echo of their violence.
The investigation is currently in the hands of Area Three detectives.
