After a decade of serving the Pilsen community, Dusek's Tavern, nestled in Thalia Hall at 1227 W. 18th Street, announced it's shuttering its doors on December 31, marking the end of an era for the once Michelin-starred establishment, NBC Chicago reported.

In what seems like a surge of notable restaurant closures across Chicago this year, Dusek's Tavern's farewell comes on the heels of the city bidding adieu to the Signature Room and Grand Lux Café, with Dusek's serving its last meals on New Year's Eve, with Thalia Hall and its other associated bars, Tack Room and Punch House, still remaining open to patrons.

An Instagram post from the establishment conveyed its departure with a heartfelt message: "Dear Friends," the post began, "At the end of this year, we will turn off the lights at Dusek's for the last time." The message underlined the collective effort and the array of talent that made Dusek's "the special neighborhood place that welcomed all," as captured by the restaurant's announcement online.

Bruce Finkelman, co-owner of Dusek's Tavern, reflected on the establishment's journey and contributions in a statement where the sweat, tears, and Michelin stars that once shined on this beloved eatery were acknowledged, "Dusek's was the blood sweat and tears of so many talented people over the years who lived and breathed it," Finkelman said, and he expressed gratitude towards the team, who stood as the lifeblood that drew in both artists and friends alike making the restaurant a community favorite, according to a WLS interview.

The precise reason for the closure remains unclear, with Finkelman offering no explicit explanation in his statement. The closure of Dusek's Tavern leaves a void in the fabric of Pilsen's dining scene, and its goodbye will likely be met with the reflections of those who patronized it for its renowned cuisine and atmosphere over the past ten years.
