A collision between a Hyundai and a Mercedes took place at approximately 7:45 p.m. at the cross-section of East 88th Street and South Stony Island Avenue. The aftermath was a grim scene, with the Hyundai left overturned and its occupants in dire circumstances.
The violent impact proved fatal for a female in the Hyundai, who was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by Fox32 News. A male passenger also riding in the Hyundai was hurriedly taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center; however, details regarding his condition have yet to be disclosed.
A 27-year-old man, who had been in the Mercedes, was transported to Trinity Hospital, where he was said to be in fair condition according to Chicago Sun-Times. The collision’s violence had twisted metal and shattered glass across the intersection.
