
A tragic incident unfolded in Chicago's bustling River North neighborhood, where early Thursday morning a 56-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by an out-of-control SUV, according to the Chicago Tribune. The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. when a 40-year-old woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, purportedly lost control of her vehicle, which then hopped the curb and, in a fatal sequence, collided with the woman who was on the sidewalk.
In the wake of the collision, emergency services rushed to the 300 block of North State Street, where the white SUV lay wrecked and the victim, in the throes of bodily trauma, was swiftly attended to and subsequently pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. As of now, the authorities have not issued citations but as per the CBS News Chicago report, they are pending as the Area 3 detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
The Chicago Police Department has not yet released more details on the crash but has cited that their inquiries are active and ongoing.
