A teenage girl is facing charges in connection with a tragic crash in South Elgin that claimed the lives of two fellow high school students. Aanomeya Jacqueline D. Henry, 17, has been charged with reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence of drugs after the August collision that resulted in the deaths of Kamorra Campbell and Tahlulay Henry, CBS Chicago reported.

According to the details that emerged, Henry was behind the wheel of a blue Honda Civic on the morning of the crash. The vehicle collided with a dump truck while turning left onto Kenyon Road—a maneuver that led to the deaths of two teens; Henry herself was turned left when she failed to yield to an oncoming dump truck, as disclosed by the Daily Herald. Driving without a valid license, the Kane County state’s attorney claims Henry was also under the influence of marijuana during the incident.

As a result of the collision, the Civic was launched several feet into a cornfield, and the dump truck was overturned. The two passengers inside the Civic, Campbell, 17, and Tahlulay Henry, 16, were both pronounced dead—Campbell at the scene and Henry shortly after arriving at the hospital, as confirmed by CBS Chicago. A third passenger was seriously injured, while the truck driver escaped with minor injuries.

While waiting for her court appearance scheduled for January 26, Henry is subject to strict court-imposed conditions. According to authorities, the teen must abide by a curfew that restricts her movements from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m., refrain from using drugs or alcohol, undergo random drug testing, avoid contact with the surviving victim and not drive, as reported by the Daily Herald and be barred from leaving the state without the court's permission. Despite facing serious charges, Henry is not detained pending her trial.
