
A series of violent attempts to hijack vehicles and assault vulnerable individuals has led to the arrest of a Chicago man. Terry Ivory, 24, of the 6300 block of W. Grand Ave. is facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated battery of an elderly individual and robbery of a handicapped person.
According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the arrest occurred on December 17, 2023, following investigations into incidents that took place in early December. Ivory is accused of a crime spree that involved attacking and attempting to hijack vehicles belonging to two senior citizens. Ivory's alleged actions culminated in the forceful attempt to steal from a 61-year-old man in the 800 block of S. Wabash Ave. and from a 69-year-old woman in the 800 block of S. Michigan Ave.
The report further details that Ivory is charged in connection with a separate theft that transpired on December 1, in the 200 block of N. State St., Chicago.
Set for a detention hearing on the afternoon of December 18, Ivory faces one felony count for robbery involving a victim aged 60 years or over or handicapped, another for aggravated battery of a victim aged 60 or over, two counts for attempted vehicular hijacking aggravated by the victim being handicapped, and one additional count for aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. No further information has been released as the CPD continues its investigation into the string of violent offenses.
