
The frantic search for a missing 13-year-old girl came to a reassuring end when police confirmed that Jakaiya Green was found safe after vanishing from Northwest Miami-Dade earlier this month.
Green, who was last spotted on January 6 around 8:30 p.m. near the 1300 block of Northwest 95th Street, sparked widespread concern after Miami-Dade Police disseminated alerts requesting public assistance, she stands 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighs around 150 pounds and has black hair, and brown eyes and she was wearing a light blue hoodie, blue and black pajama pants and white shoes when she disappeared.
According to WSVN, authorities did not provide details on where or how the teenager was found, but they confirmed she was reunited with her family just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, bringing an end to the intense search that lasted nearly a week.
The Miami-Dade Police had intensified their efforts to locate Green by appealing to the public through social media and stressing that the young girl might be in need of services; the police department’s post on X had prompted immediate action with a plea to contact Crime Stoppers for anyone who had information regarding her whereabouts, the call for help had illustrated the urgency of the situation and the community's role in cases of missing youths.
